Janell Burgess

A native Californian, Janell Burgess began dancing and found her passion for the arts at a very young age. She is the recipient of the Tremaine Scholarship, Disneyland Creativity Award in choreography, Giordano Merit Scholarship and is also an American Legion Award winner for her advocacy in art education. As a choreographer, she has coached dancers, actors, singers, and movers of all ages in film, television, stage and live events around the world. Janell's diverse & thorough background in movement includes Argentine tango, Graham, tap, yoga, & ballet (only to name a few) makes her a well sought after creative mind in the entertainment industry. Some of her choreographic credits include: The Disney Channel, X-Burlesque at the Showboat in Atlantic City, The Glory of Christmas (aerial dancers) at the Crystal Cathedral, Los Angeles Dance Invitational, The John Mejia Show (music artist), Rhythms of Peace (international film documentary), Newport Beach Film Festival (closing ceremonies), Maltina Dance All (African dance reality tv series), America's Got Talent, and also choreographs for numerous production companies, industrials, and nightclubs throughout the US. Most recently she was seen in Macau, China choreographing for the topless revue "Crystal" which premiered at the Sands Hotel & Casino. Janell is also a holistic healthcare practitioner which enables her to bring a strong element of structural alignment to performers which focuses on keeping their bodies healthy, in shape, & dancing stronger and longer with limited to no injuries under her watch.

Janell has been an entertainer for Disney, Universal Studios, and has performed on national and international tours with The Fercos Brothers "Untamed Illusions", Steve Reid's "Dreamscapes", as well as concert violinist Bijan Mortezavi. She has appeared alongside Lorenzo Lamas dancing for the televised Miss Planet Beach world fitness beauty competition and performed for the opening of the film "This Is It" to honor Michael Jackson at the Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Her other Las Vegas performance credits include: Paul Oakenfold's "Perfecto" at Rain Nightclub where she appeared as the "Grinder Girl", Bally's Hotel & Casino with the cast of "Jubilee!" as well as Planet Hollywood dancing the choreography of Tony award winner Jerry Mitchel in "Peepshow" starring Holly Madison. She has also appeared as a soloist performer on Fremont Street, The Dixie Evans Burlesque Hall of Fame, and The Playboy Comedy Club. As an adagio partner, she appeared as the specialty dance act for the honorary recipient of the African American Heritage Awards, Blair Underwood. Her television and film credits include: Gene Simmon's "Family Jewels", "The View", Sony, 2008 Olympics Basketball opening ceremony, The Travel Channel, and commercial for Rockin' Body Workout. Currently, Janell is head judge for Nigeria's acclaimed dance television show "Maltina Dance All" and she will be returning again this year for her 3rd consecutive season. Her mission is to develop movement that will inspire healing, bridge cultures, create unity, and ignite a passion for life!

An American Legion Award Winner for her advocacy in and commitment to art education, Janell Burgess has been a professional choreographer and performance art coordinator for over a decade. She has worked closely alongside the Dance Resource Center of Greater Los Angeles with companies such as Los Angeles Contemporary and Los Angeles Choreographers and Dancers to integrate children of all ages and the non-artistic population into and thru the performance art world. Teaching and choreographing all around the world, Janell has worked with top artists including the Jackson Family, Paul Oakenfold, Gene Simmons, Holly Madison & Blair Underwood. Ms. Burgess's mission is to help develop artists and projects that will inspire healing, bridge cultures, create unity, and ignite a passion for life!
