Jay Kim

jay kimBefore retiring from the stage in 2004, Jay enjoyed a successful and rewarding career in ballet as a titled soloist and guest principal ballet dancer. His career both nationally and internationally spanned 14 years in over 14 countries where he mastered a full repertoire of both contemporary and classical ballets. Over time he has been featured in television, magazine, and newspaper articles, and reviewed with praise from the critics around the world.

Prior to dancing with Universal Ballet Company for 8 years where he achieved the rank of soloist, Jay danced with the Korean Ballet Theatre, and the Dayton Ballet Theatre. In his career, Jay has been awarded a total of 7 gold and grand prix medals from international competitions in ballet, contemporary, and korean folk dance. Jay earned a Bachelor of the Arts degree in dance and graduated from the Sejong University in Seoul, Korea. As a student he trained on scholarship to the Kirov Academy of Ballet, Kwang-Ju Arts School, and Chung-Moo Dance Academy.

Jay served as Artistic Director of the Metropolitan Ballet Academy & Theatre, Artistic Director and Owner of the Art Ballet Center, Faculty at the Sejong University, Nevada Ballet Theatre, and the Detroit Opera House, and has taught master classes throughout Korea, California, Michigan, Nevada, and Ohio.
